Data policy
How we build and check the card data.
We build credit, fee, reset-rule, and earn-rate records from issuer-published terms. Review is still in progress for flagged entries; scores are computed by a published formula with no advertiser input. This page says exactly what that means — including the parts we have not finished.
Where the facts come from
The issuer's terms, never another tracker.
A card's credits, fee, and earn rates are read from the issuer's card page, benefit terms, or cardmember agreement and entered into the MoneyRoom catalog with the source recorded. We do not copy card facts from other tracker sites, forums, or press coverage. Where a card's recorded source is an issuer page, the card's score page names the source host and the reset calendar links to it as a plain citation.
Issuer terms change without notice. The catalog carries a “terms checked” date on the credits in the reset calendar — today all 288 included rows carry one — and that date is what the reset calendar and each card page show. It is the date a person last read the issuer's terms for that credit, not the date we last edited the page.
What the labels mean
Verified, pending, and what we would rather show than guess.
- Terms checked <date>A person opened the issuer's published terms for this credit on that date and compared them line by line to our record.
- Card details pending final verificationThe card is in the catalog from the issuer's published terms, but our own line-by-line pass is not complete for every detail. Today that caveat sits on 79% of the recurring credits we list. The caveat never changes a score; it tells you to confirm the figure with the issuer before you rely on it.
- Not yet checkedNo terms-check date is recorded. We show the label rather than a confident number — a missing date is never rendered as fresh.
We would rather publish an honest caveat than a confident wrong figure. If you see a number that disagrees with the issuer's current terms, the issuer is right and we want to know.
How the score is produced
One published formula, run on every card.
The MoneyRoom Card Score weighs usable value against the annual fee (40%), the upkeep the card demands (30%), and real earn rates on a published basket (30%). Every weight, realization factor, and exclusion is on the methodology page, and the same code that scores the app's cards renders every public figure at request time. Nobody hand-adjusts a score.
- Welcome bonuses are never scored. The score is a year-two-and-beyond, steady-state number.
- Interest rates are out of scope. The score measures rewards value, not borrowing cost.
- Perks without a defensible dollar value are listed, not priced. Lounge access, elite status, free-night certificates, and insurance vary too much by person.
Who pays us
No affiliate links — and our own conflict, disclosed.
There are no affiliate links on this site. We are not paid when you apply for a card, get approved, or click through to an issuer, and we have no advertising relationship with any issuer. That is a structural fact about the business, not a moral claim: most credit-card sites are paid per approved application, a legal and disclosed arrangement, and many of them do careful work — but their business improves when you open a card. Ours does not.
Our conflict is the obvious one: MoneyRoom sells subscriptions, and these pages link to our own calculator and our own product. The scores are computed by a formula that has no idea whether you are a customer, and the free plan tracks unlimited cards by hand without a bank connection — if a card's credits are simple enough that you do not need software to track them, the score page says so. Current prices are on the pricing page.
Corrections
Found an error? Tell us; we fix it and restamp the date.
Write to support through the address on the FAQ page with the card, the credit, and the issuer page you compared it to. A confirmed error is corrected in the catalog, the credit's terms-checked date is restamped, and — because every public figure renders from the catalog — the fix reaches every page that shows it. Never send account numbers, passwords, or bank credentials.
